The Impact of Intervention Based on Protection Motivation Theory on Treatment Adherence in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease

Background: Patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) gradually reduce their follow-up treatment due to the vulnerable physical condition and high involvement disease-related process. The purpose of this research was investigate effect intervention based on protection motivation theory (PMT) adherence in patients IHD. Methods: This quasi-experimental used a pretest-posttest design control group. statistical population included all IHD referred Payambar Azam hospital Bandar Abbas, Iran for more than once between March 2019 May 2020. A total 16 were selected through matched targeted sampling randomly assigned into two equal groups experimental (n = 8 each). test group received an PMT six 90-minute sessions within 45 days. We Modanloo Treatment Adherence Questionnaire (TAQ), data analyzed using analysis covariance (ANCOVA) SPSS23 software. Results: results ANCOVA showed that significantly increased its subscales (P<0.001). Conclusion: Intervention can be as effective increase IHD, depending proper nutrition training, self-care skills, awareness-raising, relaxation exercises.
